The Cowboy family
I'm going to tell you a story that happened a while ago, and is still a mystery to me.
I used to live on an acre of land, where we had mostly trees, and a large open field. Across the field there is a house about the same size, except that their yard was smaller. These people called themselves the Chiefs. I have absolutely NO idea why since they were not Native American, they are just white people. For some reason, Mr. chief insisted on wearing a Native American head dress, and he obviously thinks he looks like this:

When he ACTUALLY looked like this: (Only not so dignified)

Sure, that's weird... But it gets weirder... The Chiefs liked to wear outfits much like this, generally outside while they grilled food in their very small yard, and drank a lot. When they got drunk, they thought that it is was GREAT time to do some yard work, so generally they end up with finished piece of work looking something like this

and usually yard work turned into this...

Not yard work, but generally what was going to happen.
Now the Chiefs were weird, and they got drunk and did weird things when they were drunk, but the weirdest part was that they had way too many animals. I have tried to count, and I believe that they have 4 dogs, 6 cats, 3 horses, 2 cows, a dozen chickens, 3 parakeets, a mule, and a lot of hamster/gerbil type rodents. They recently moved the horses to a hose sanctuary (THANK GOD) because "I'twas a lotta room tooken up for sum dumb things we don't even want." They have a small daughter who tended to kill the smaller animals on accident by either stepping on them, or mauling  hugging them. She is a sweet girl, but she was rough with her pets.
:( sad.
These people are not weird enough, they LOVED to have the dead deer head that Mr. chief killed hang above the grill,

and recently, they set it on fire.
So then after the fire department came to put out the flaming deer head, they called the police for animal abuse, and then the next day, the entire family had just disappeared. The family didn't take any of their possessions, they just vanished.  I still have NO idea why they just up and left, but they did. They left all of their animals, which we called animal control for, and they helped find new homes for all of them. They animals were ok, and they found nice new places to live. I still to this day don't know where the Cheifs went.

SO! I have found probably the coolest person ever in the entire neighborhood! Max, an eighty-seven year old retired sailor (YES! HE'S A SAILOR!) lived just down the road from me at my old house (sadly, I had to move a while back...) and every single day, Max takes Florence, his best friend, out for a stroll. This friend however, is not a woman, a man, a dog, or even a cat. Florence is a bird. A large blue and green macaw.

She is probably the sweetest bird in the world. Not only is she unbelievably kind and gentle, she also knows a bunch of different tricks. She can sit, stay, hop, speak, and even poop on command. She is a very interesting bird, but the cool thing is she sixty-four years old. Max got her as a wedding present from his now unfortunately deceased wife's parents. His parents in law thought that a a sailor in the Navy, he would be able to take the bird with him. Sadly, these people did not realize that the Navy frowns upon large noisy birds, so Max had to send Florence to live with his wife. He didn't see the bird for over three years, and when he returned home, he found out that his wife had completely trained this bird to do everything. Many years later, Florence and Max are still together, through hurricanes, the tragic loss of his wife in a car accident, and seven kids. This bird is all Max has now, and he is totally fine with that. They both walk about two miles every day, visiting some of their friends on the way. They have done this for over forty years. He really doesn't have anything going on for him right now aside for this bird, and it is very clear that they are both fine with this. How sweet is that??? :D
